On October 19th, 2013 twenty people will break a Guinness World Record for the most people attempting full body burns at one time. This means they will light themselves on fire at the same time for at least 30 seconds! How could this possibly relate to Save Local Now?
Well, our newest team member Cody Linck just so happens to be a professional stuntman in pyrotechnics when he is not talking about how Save Local Now can change the way local businesses market themselves. That’s right, we are passionate people through and through.
This stunt is no simple task and as you can imagine, is a very involved and risky performance. Why risk permanent scaring or death for a silly record book? The stunt proceeds go to two awesome charities! The first, Brick by Brick is a local charity aimed at assisting impoverished women, children and their families in South Africa. The Second is The Cleveland Food Bank which supplies a majority of the food used in local hot meal sites, shelters, and food pantries. In addition, they provide food to child care centers, group homes, and programs for the elderly.
This stunt is organized by world famous fire performer Ted Batchelor, and executive produced by John Gadd the CEO of Hot Cards, a successful printing and media business headquarter in Cleveland, OH. “We take a lot of heat in Cleveland as the Burning River City. Yet, it became the catalyst for a lot of Cleveland pride, including environmental movements, breweries, and a whole lot of ‘Hot in Cleveland’ fame,” says Hotcards’ CEO John Gadd, “It’s a unique part of our legacy that we can embrace and give new meaning with such a magical spectacle.”
